Terpenes 101
What Are Terpenes?
Terpenes are the fragrant oils secreted in cannabis trichomes.
Depending on which receptors they interact with, terpenes can relax, stimulate, or sedate the patient. When terpenes are blended with certain cannabinoids, growers and the engineers of specific strains can control the potency, activity, and feelings induced in the user. This makes for an ease of use and the possibility for all patients to find, not only a comfortable strain, but one that is tailored to the needs of their condition.
As Leafly describes, terpenes have unique attributes that contribute to the overall composition of a strain, adding a dimension to each one's "personality." In combination with cannabinoids, a cultivar profile blends for specific therapeutic benefits and achieving appropriate psychoactive results.
